Ngapali Beach
Ngapali Beach is an underdeveloped, beautiful white sand beach stretching over 15 kilometers, offering a perfect retreat for those keen on changing their itinerary. The pristine, less crowded surroundings make it an ideal destination for relaxation. The beach features many hotels and resorts to ensure comfort, and you’ll have access to fresh fish, making for a delightful culinary experience.
The beach is perfect for snorkeling, where you can admire vibrant coral formations and schools of fish in the transparent, salty water. The gentle gradient of the beach and its peaceful atmosphere add to its charm. One of the islands is so small that you can walk around it in just 10 minutes, offering views from one side to the other. Another, Pearl Island, is larger and known for its scenic beauty.
A short 45-minute drive away is the Zalun Monastery, home to the body of a revered monk who passed away in 1984 while meditating. Having spent 60 of his 80 years as a monk, his body remains unspoiled and is kept in a glass coffin. Amazingly, his hair and nails continue to grow, and they are cut periodically even after 45 years. Another saint’s body, only three years old, is also preserved at the monastery.
The mystery of a body continuing to grow hair and nails long after death is truly awe-inspiring.
