Monks and Nuns

Throughout your travels, you’ll frequently encounter monks dressed in dark red (saffron) robes, worn in a distinctive style. Nuns, on the other hand, wear rose-pink attire and can also be seen walking the streets. It is a common belief in Myanmar that everyone should become a monk or nun for a period during their lifetime, as part of spiritual practice.

Scott’s Market (Bogyoke Aung San Market)

Scott’s Market, also known as Bogyoke Aung San Market, is famous for its colonial architecture and charming cobblestone streets. It’s the perfect place to negotiate for semi-precious stones, paintings, wood carvings with inlays, and traditional Burmese handicrafts. You’ll also find excellent gifts for loved ones back home. Keep in mind, the market is closed on Mondays and closes promptly at 5 pm each day.
